Pemberton (Northcliffe)

Travelling from Wave Rock we stopped at Kojonup for the night before staying at Northcliffe near Pemberton for five days.

So good to be back amongst trees and forest and birdsong, although we got the worst fuel economy of the trip.  Rolling hills and some steady climbs had us at nearly 20L/100km - a far cry from the 14.9 overall average for the 9 months.

We went on the old train ride through the regrowth Karri forest and past old mills that shut only recently. The driver masquerades as a comedian I think!

We revisited a few familiar places from 20+ years ago...

The Pemberton pool

The fire lookout trees.
The one we climbed 20+ years ago is now closed.
This is as good as it gets - only 20m up

This is The Gloucester Yree.
It's rhe one we climbed 25 years ago. Tom was in Yr 2. It's bloody dangerous... bad parenting moment.

The giant tingle trees

The Walpole tree-top walk

The beaches and coast near Windy Harbour

This is timber country, so we went to a timber museum and learnt some interesting stuff about the historic harvesting and milling of timber in the region.

We had a bit of fun at playground at Manjimup

We called in at a brewery for a pleasant afternoon.

Behind the visitors' centre was an art trail.

On to Bunbury.
