Esperance

20+ years ago we visited Esperance with the kids and I recall being smitten with the place. As I set off from Bremer Bay to travel there today I wonder if those memories are accurate.

(A few hours later...) Those memories are entirely accurate.

Esperance is (still) beautiful.
Robyn's memories are more detailed... the caravan park we're in is the same park as previously - she remembers the camp kitchen, where we put our tent and the pine trees lining the beach.
I have nothing but a vague memory of a seal by a wharf.

It's a really pretty beach-front.

With it being forecast to be much (MUCH!) hotter in a few days' time, we went for a drive and a walk along some of the beaches rather than settling in for a swim or beach day.
These beaches are beautiful; the colour of the water is stunning.

Shark alarm system at all the beaches. Probably AI detection??

One day here was particularly hot. We visited the local brewery for a cool, air-conditioned beer, only to find there were fans pushing around the 40+ degree air.
Not complaining... the beer was cold :)

Lucky Bay.
For the past 5 months, anyone, on hearing we were going through Esperance, said to go to Lucky Bay.
We can see why - it is certainly a highlight of our 5 months in WA.

You can see why it was voted the best beach in Australia a few years ago.

We farewelled our rugged little tomato. We knew we'd lose it crossing into South Australia, so left it in the travelers' garden in the caravan park.

Enough of a good thing. Time to cross the Nullabor and head to a different time zone.
