Archer River and Bramwell Stations

The road goes straight up the middle and there's not a lot around!

From Laura we headed off and stayed the first night at Archer River, where they are building a huge new bridge over the river. It will go under at least once every wet season!

And then on to Bramwell Station.

Bramwell Station camping

They are both pretty similar places - cattle stations with a campground for the travelers to the tip. These places all typically provide hamburgers and chips and coffee, grass to camp on, a bit of on-site accommodation.

We stopped for morning tea at one of the telegraph stations (Moreton Telegraph Station) which had some pics on the wall, including these two.)

This is why it's called the Old Telegraph Track.

We went down a bit of the track from Bramwell.

There are two ways to get to the tip - via the Old Telegraph Track or the Development Road.
In some places, these are one and the same.
This video below is pretty typical of the couple of thousand kilometres we have travelled on from Laura, to the tip, down to Weipa and then back to Laura.

There's a good few travelers on the road, but it's set to get a lot busier as the real rush has yet to begin (in a couple of weeks).
