Laura

Laura is a tiny community on the Cape.
It gained a bit of popularity when the publican was eaten by a croc while fishing and his mate picked up the lease in April last year!

Laura was a bigger town in the past when a train line was built from Cooktown to support the Gold rush at the nearby Palmer River diggings in the 1800s.

We drove from Weipa along good dirt roads to Musgrave Telegraph Station where we stopped tp make a sandwich for lunch.

We went on to Laura and stayed the night here on the grass behind the pub.

Enjoyed a beer and pizza dinner and a chat to some fellow travelers.

On the the tablelands next.
