Fairview Station, Laura

Just north of Cooktown (south to begin with before turning north - uggh!) is Laura.

Not much there now - a train used to run from Cooktown to Laura when gold was first discovered. Incredible engineering.!

We stayed just north of Laura at Fairview Station, part of the Olive Vale Pastoral group and combined this farm is the size of a small European country.

We left the van here as we weren't sure what the roads would be like as far as dust and corrugations go.

On reflection, we could have taken the van but we're no strangers to tenting, and we have a fridge etc. in the car as well so all good.
