Nanutarra Roadhouse and Coral Bay

We left Point Samson and continued south west.
We stopped at Karratha and left the van at the visitor's centre to run up and take a look at Dampier.

Dampier is the home of Red Dog. We called in at the memorial, checked out the town from the lookout, got stuck on the wrong side of a level crossing as an enormous train passed as we looked at the salt pans, and ran out to the port for a look at the size of the Rio Tinto operations.

We hooked the van back up and drove through some pretty uninteresting terrain to Nanutarra Roadhouse  to stop for the afternoon and watch
 the NRL Grand Final.

Penrith!

Gorgeous sunsets

The next day we continued on to Coral Bay.
Wow! Gorgeous! I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Crystal clear water

Hmmm, they did say to let the tyres down to less than 20psi
I (John) should have listened... if I had, I wouldn't have got a little bogged!

It was pretty cool to see maybe a hundred baby sharks in the bay.
(Coral Bay definitely sells better than Shark Bay!)

Portable Australia Post office - the trailer is open a few hours each day.

Don't drink the water!!

Next day we drove up to Exmouth.

"Mildura" shipwreck

Bloody tall ULF masts to communicate with submarines.

At the discovery centre

Whales off the Ningaloo Coast

Leaving for Carnarvon in the morning,, we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn... which we last did in April.
